Judges for Women in Construction Awards:
Eng Anwaar Al Shimmari
Anwaar Al Shimmari 17 years’ experience in the fields of Architecture, urban planning and design, traffic and roads, and infrastructure has put her in a short listed professional expertise in the region. Her previous experience included Al Ain Municipality, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Dubai Holding, and MOID. She holds as BSc in Architectural Engineering from UAEU and a master degree from AUS in Urban Planning-Built environment and Transportation Planning. Her role as professional mentor and technical judge added another dimension to her experience. She is the first female judge in engineering awards in UAE and GCC. She have developed the first projects plans, cash flow, and budgeting for Federal projects and HH President of UAE Initiatives.
Anwaar is the Chief Innovation Officer and Director of Design in Ministry of Infrastructure Development taking care of Ministry Innovation initiatives as well all infrastructure projects under design stage. She is leading the team of artificial intelligence. She is a board member of Sheikh Zayed Housing Program. She obtained her Diploma in Government innovation from Cambridge University in 2017 and Executive Leadership Diploma from PMO in May 2018. She won the Excellence Award of MOID and has been a finalist in H.H. Prime Minister Medals for Supervisory Category in 2017. She was part of the team who established “TAMDEEN” the Project Management and technical arm of Dubai Holding and many major projects in Dubai such as DIFC, D3, Business Bay, Lagoons, and other mega projects. She participated in shaping the urban form of the new Dubai and its major projects.
Christopher Seymour BSc FRICS Managing Director Mott MacDonald Middle East
Chris Seymour has more than 25 years’ experience in property and construction. Having worked in most of the major cities in the Middle East region over the last 8 years he specialises in commercial, leisure and healthcare sectors plus infrastructure and Oil and Gas. Chris is a member of the RICS MENAT Market Advisory Panel, and also sits on the Investment Committee of ENBD REIT and is an active member of Corporate Real Estate Network (CoreNet). Having spent many years in PFI and PPP procurement practising in both UK and Middle East he also advises many clients on strategy, risk, commercial and technical advice for large public-sector investments.
Dr. Shetha Alzubaidi
Dr. Shetha Al-Zubaidi, BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD
Dr. Shetha is the CEO and partner of one of Alfahim Avenue Investment Group companies called Brookson Project Management. She has international experience in UK and the Middle East for full range of development management extending over twenty five years. Leading and managing a team that coordinating all issues relating to the design, development & construction activities of major projects.
From 1990 to August 2004 Dr. Shetha worked for leading consultancies in UK participating in different projects such as Capita Business Centre in Blackburn. From August 2004 to August 2007 Dr. Shetha worked for UAE leading real estate master developer, Nakheel, participating in different mega structure project such as Palm Jumeirah, Arabian Canal and Palm Deira. From August 2007 to February 2015 she worked with Al-Rajhi Group as Developments Director / Vice President in two real estate companies in UAE, Tatweer UAQ & Tameer Holding Investment. From February 2015 to June 2017 Dr Shetha worked as a Senior Vice President in Damac Properties leading international and national projects.
Dr. Shetha holds BSc in Civil Engineering. MSc in Environmental Geo-technology and PhD in Civil Engineering from UK.
Ben Piper is a Principal and Partner with Killa Design with 18 years of professional experience in architecture (11 years in UAE). He is an experienced leader with an excellent ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of building projects. He has held senior roles in a variety of global practices including Gensler, Halcrow, Atkins, Perkins+Will and Killa Design in designing hotel, residential and mixed-use developments in the Middle East, India, China, US and the UK.
Projects completed or under construction include 56-story VIDA Marina Branded residences and Hotel for Emaar, Dubai; 45-story BLVD Heights Residential Tower for Emaar, Dubai; 52-story Creekside Residence for Emaar, Dubai; 35-story commercial office building for Barwa Bank, Qatar; 280 Key Diplomatic Quarter Hotel Serviced Residences for Marriot, Riyadh; 300 Key Acacia Residences for Emaar, Dubai; 62-story BLVD Address 5-star hotel and serviced apartment for Emaar, Dubai; 60-story Namaste hotel for Starwood, Mumbai; 10,000 seat occupancy IT Offices for ITC, Bangalore.
Ben holds several technology patents from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology based on his research into the field of computational design tools. He has an expert understanding of REVIT and other software that support the efficient production of fully coordinated design packages. As a LEED Accredited Professional Ben is deeply committed to sustainable design and has implemented numerous energy, water and waste saving principles into his LEED Platinum rated design work. He is regularly invited to speak about his design work at major conferences and universities around the world.
