The Big 5 2011 sees announcements, new products & record participation
Exhibitors at The Big 5 2011, taking place at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre until 24 November, have been utilising the event as a platform to announce new contracts and products.
With 2,500 exhibitors from 75 countries, local, regional and international companies have been keen to discuss developments in the market and the activities they have been undertaking.
Technology company, Elematic, announced a deal with SMEET Precast to provide a complete precast 300,000 sqm factory in Qatar, delivering machinery, equipment, software, and services for production of all structural parts (e.g. hollow-core slabs, walls, columns, beams and staircases). Swiss-based Sterilios Group unveiled its ground-breaking anti-bacterial product Microsilver, which is designed to kill bacteria without causing environmental damage.
Dubai’s own Emirates Building Systems unveiled its range of new industrial products this week, citing The Big 5 as providing “a unique opportunity to explore alliances and investment opportunities.” Similarly, global adhesives manufacturer, Mapei, unveiled its new Ultralite S1 cementitious adhesive. The “next-generation adhesive” is designed to bond all types and sizes of ceramic tiles and natural stones on internal and external surfaces, as well as thin porcelain gres tiles on floors and walls, including external façade.
Andy White, event director, The Big 5, said: “This year’s event has grown more than seven per cent on 2010 and the activity from the exhibitors has generated a real buzz. The Big 5 started over 30 years ago in Dubai, having become something of a barometer for the industry the event provides an excellent platform for participants to showcase their products and services and ascertain the market sentiment.
“There is still one day left of the show and lots still to see. The Green Build Congress will move into its final ‘Action Day’, with participants working to devise realistic sustainable solutions for their own companies. In addition, the free-to-attend product seminars, which have seen standing-room-only, will continue on Thursday.”
