Chairman -- Mr. Khamis Juma Bu Amim — Director
Since 2007, Mr. Khamis has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO), organizer of the Offshore Arabia conference. Previously, Mr. Bu Amim was with Conoco and ConocoPhillips for 25 years in various management positions including Vice President of Dubai Petroleum Company (2002-2007). Mr. Bu Amim has also served in the UAE as the Secretary General of the UAE Oil and Gas Human Resources Group; at Dubai Petroleum as Advisor to the Gulf Career Development Forum; Secretary General of the Dubai Government Oil Spill Task Force and the Crises Management Team of Dubai and the Region; and Senior MENA Region Advisor for Global Energy.
Managing Director – Mr. Shezan Amiji
Mr. Amiji is the Founder and Managing Director of EcoVentures. In this capacity he is responsible for spearheading the establishment and growth of the business. Prior to founding EcoVentures, Mr. Amiji founded and operated 7DAYS newspaper in the UAE, worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs in New York, and at Standard Chartered in Singapore. Mr. Amiji holds a Masters (Oxon) from the University of Oxford and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Director – Mr. Armen Vartanian
Mr. Vartanian brings to EcoVentures significant expertise on a range of environmental advisory areas as well as experience in venture capital. Prior to joining EcoVentures, Mr. Vartanian was a Vice President with Manara Capital in Beirut, an Associate with Asia West Funds in Connecticut, and the founder of two technology companies, Office.com and Service-Planet.com. Mr. Vartanian holds a BS in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University.
Emissions Reductions Specialist – Karan Yadav
Mr. Yadav brings to EcoVentures years of experience managing manufacturing operations in the US and China, which combined with emissions reductions training, makes him particularly knowledgeable and practiced in helping companies reduce their emissions. Further, Mr. Yadav has several years of experience in media and advertising in Dubai. He uses this to help clients effectively market and communicate their emissions reductions activities. Mr. Yadav holds a BBA from the American University in Dubai.
Business Development Manager – Marina Anic
Ms. Anic develops client relationships and accounts, and also manages project-based marketing activities. Ms. Anic holds a BBA in marketing from American University in Dubai (AUD) and is currently pursuing an MBA in marketing from AUD.
Analyst – Ian Kershaw
Mr. Kershaw brings work experience from financial services, environmental entrepreneurship, and government to his current work as an Analyst at EcoVentures. He holds a BA from Tufts University in Economics (summa cum laude) and is also an alumnus of Oxford University.
Executive Assistant – Rita Rizk
Advisors
Jamie Phares
Ms. Phares has five years of marketing experience with Johnson & Johnson Medical in Dubai and General Mills in Minnesota, where she marketed brands such as Cheerios Cereal. She also has experience in economic consulting and entrepreneurship. Jamie holds a BA in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in finance and marketing from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Amir Shahran
Mr. Shahran has over five years of experience as a project manager for industrial and process plants in the energy sector with specific experience in managing the implementation of energy efficiency upgrades in a variety of installations around the world. Mr. Shahran has overseen an energy efficiency study leading to implementation of a waste-heat recovery system at a refinery in Ecuador; led a project to finance and install selective catalysts at an Eastern European fertilizer manufacturer utilizing cash flows from the advance sale of certified carbon reductions; managed a project in 2005 for the construction of an extensive desalination plant system in Equatorial Guinea; and gained considerable experience in upgrades of power plants and modernization of control systems, primarily in Eastern Europe. Mr. Shahran holds a Masters Degree in Chemistry from University College, London.
